What is Shankarpali...?
- Shankarpali is a snack that is especially popular in the Indian states of Gujarat and Maharashtra. Traditionally, it is prepared and consumed during the Diwali festival.The snack is characterized by its diamond shape.It consists of sugar,ghee butter,milk,maida flour,salt,and semolina.
- The ingredients are made into a dough which is then deep-fried until golden and crispy.The flavors can vary from sweet to savory,depending on the method of preparation,ingredients,and the region.Shankarpali can be enjoyed throughout the year,not just during Diwali, when it's usually consumed as a tea-time snack.
INGREDIENTS :
- 2 Bowl Maida
- 1/2 Cup Milk
- 1 Cup Ghee
- 3/4 Cup Powdered sugar
- Pinch of Salt
- Oil for frying
Procedure Video...
PROCESS :
- Take a plate/bowl add Maida,Powdered Sugar,Salt and Hot Ghee.Mix the mixture properly.
- Now add Milk gradually and mix it.
- Knead the dough properly.Use full enery to knead the dough.
- The consistency should be medium thick. It should be not too thick or too thin.Here our Soft dough is ready.
- Cover the dough and give it a rest time of an hour.
- Shankarpali dough is not as soft as our chapatti dough.Shankarpali dough ge'ts some cracks.It is perfectly normal.So,need this type of dough only.
- Here dough is perfectly done now take a small ball out of the dough and knead it for a while.
- Roll the ball into shape of disc. It has got some crack at the edge. It is normal.
- You can decide the thickness of shankarpali.But thick only you make its best.
- Now you can cut the shankarpali in any shape of your choice. It can be either diamond or square.
- Remove the shankarpale, put them in a dish and cover.
- Same way you make aal the shankarpale.
- Here our all Shankarpale are ready, now fry them toghether.
- If the dough doesn’t stick to rolling board or rolling pin it means that the dough is perfect. We don’t need to use dry flour or oil while rolling.
- Now Heat oil in a Kadai. The oil should not be too hot.
- If it is too hot, then the Shankarpali will be over fried from outside and will stay raw from inside.
- Drop the shankarpali one by one in the oil and fry on medium heat.
- Fry until shankarpali turns brown from all sides. Keep on moving at the intervals.
- Shankarpali gets fried well in about 3-4 minutes. Remove it a plate. Shankarpali is ready.ЁЯШЛ
- Once shankarpali is completely cooled down, store them in air tight container.
- It has shelf life of about 3-5 weeks.
How to Serve ?
- Serve with Diwali Faral...or you can have it with Tea also...
