Hey Friends, Welcome to ItsMahajan. It's Mahashivratri, Happy Mahashivratri to all. Today I am here with Simple and Soft Sabudana Khichdi Recipe. Basically in Maharashtra, we have Upvas/उपवास on this day, For each and every Fast you will find new Fasting / फलहार Dishes that you can try at home. Today's dish is known to all of us "Sabudana Khichdi"... This dish is the dish that comes to mind when we think of fasts/उपवास. Today I will make it Spicy Hot Sabudana Khichdi/Red Sabudana Khichdi. You can make it spicy according to you, also you can add cumin seeds, coriander leaves, etc. On any fast I don't eat this. Everyone loves this dish so, we will make this dish in Maharashtrian Style... Let Get's Started. Happy watching😊...
History Of Mahashivratri... ?
- MahaShivaratri is a Hindu Festival celebrated annually in honor of the God Shiva. The name also refers to the night when Lord Shiva performs the heavenly dance.
- In every month of the lunisolar Hindu calendar, there is a Shivaratri – "night of Shiva" – on the day before the new moon. But once a year, in late winter and before the arrival of Summer (February/March), this night is called "Maha Shivaratri" – "the Great Night of Shiva".
- It is a major festival in Hinduism, and this festival is solemn and marks a remembrance of "overcoming darkness and ignorance" in life and the world. It is observed by remembering Lord Shiva and chanting prayers, fasting, and meditating on ethics and virtues such as honesty, non-injury to others, charity, forgiveness, and the discovery of Lord Shiva.
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Sabudana / Sago seeds
- 1 tbsp Ginger
- 2-3 Spicy Red Chillies
- 2 Kashmiri Red Chillies
- Roasted Peanut Powder
- Salt to taste
- A pinch of Sugar (Optional)
- Groundnut Oil

Procedure
- Firstly, Wash the Sago/Sabudana properly with water. 2-3 times wash it and add water till Sabudana deep.
- Soak the Sabudana overnight.
- Next Morning, here our Sabudana is soaked properly.
- Now add Roasted Peanut Power and Salt, Mix well and keep aside.
- Meanwhile, take a mixer jar add Redchillies, Kashmiri Chillies, Ginger, Peanut Powder and pinch of Salt.
- Grind the mixture and keep aside.
- Now Heat up groundnut oil in kadai, add chopped Potatoes.
- Fry the Potatoes until they get soft. You can use Cumin Seeds, Coriander Leaves. But I don't eat this on any Fast so, I avoid it.
- When Potatoes get soft, add pepared Red Mirch mixture and saute it well for a min.
- Now add Soaked Sago/Sabudana and mix gentlely.
- Cook the Sabudana Khichdi openly on low flame for 10 mins.
- To avoid the stickyness, cook the Khichdi openly.
- Finally,Our Lal Mirch Spicy Hot Sabudana Khichdi is ready to Serve😋.
- Serve With Some Fruits, Curd, Fried Chilies, Nuts.
- NOTE :
- To avoid the stickiness, cook the Khichdi openly.
- To make Soft Sabudana Khichdi Saok it overnight.
