History of Boiled PigeonPea...?
- Accoeding to Wikipedia, The Pigeon Pea (Cajanus cajan) is a perennial legume from the family Fabaceae. Since its domestication in the Indian subcontinent at least 3,500 years ago, its seeds have become a common food in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. It is consumed on a large scale in South Asia and is a major source of protein for the population of the Indian subcontinent.
- The cultivation of the Pigeon Pea dates back to at least 3,500 years ago. Archaeological finds of Pigeon Pea dating to about 3,400 years ago (14th century BC) have been found at Neolithic sites in Kalaburagi, Karnataka (Sanganakallu) and its border areas (Tuljapur Garhi in Maharashtra and Gopalpur in Orissa) and also the south Indian states such as Kerala, where it is called Tomara Payaru. From India it traveled to East Africa and West Africa.
INGREDIENTS :
- 1/2 kg PigeonPea Seedpods(Turichya Shenga)
- Salt as per taste
- Water as required
Procedure Video...
PROCESS :
- Firstly, Wash Boiled Pigeonpea/Turichya Shenga properly.
- Now heat up Cooker, add this washed Turichya Shenga/Boiled Pigeonpea.
- Add Salt as per taste and Water as required. Mix well and close the lid of cooker.
- Take 3-4 Whistle and turn off the flame.
- Cool it completely, then open it and here our Turichya Shenga are Cooked.
- Strain the water and start to eat...
