We all know the Modak, which is all time favorite Prasad of Ganesh Ji. Also, we al like to eat Modak and there are many varieties of Modak. But many of us think that it's difficult to make but friends don't worry I am here with you. So, today I am here with one of my most Favourite Traditional Maharashtrian Fried Modak recipes. Why Ganeshji Loves Modak.... ?
- Story behind Modak starts with, Menavati (Grandmother of ganeshji), She used to feed her Grandson with delicious ladoos...and Ganesh ji got used to with eating ladoos..
- But as Ganesh ji Grew older his apetite also got increased for ladoos and Devi Paravati got worried about how to make this much ladoos in short such a period.
- So, she made a alternative sweet dish from Cocunut, jaggery and ghee with rice flour called Modak. As, there are many varieties of Modak like Fried Modak, Ukdiche Modak, Choco Modak, Ravyache Modak, etc... Today we are going to make one of this Modak..
- After Eating Modak, It become the Favorite Sweets of Ganesh Ji... That's why he never say's no to Modak.. Ganpati Bappa Morya...
Ingredients For Dough :
- 1 Cup All Purpose Flour/Wheat Flour
- 1 tbsp Ghee/Oil
- Pinch Of Salt
- Water
Ingredients For Stuffing :
- 1 Cup Grated Dry Coconut
- 1/2 Cup Sugar
- 1 tbsp Cardamom Powder
Procedure Video...
Method For Dough:
- Take a bowl, add all purpose flour/maida, ghee/oil and pinch of salt.
- Add water gradually, knead it properly and form a soft dough.
- Here dough is ready apply some Ghee/Oil and cover it.
- Give rest to the dough for 10 mins.
- NOTE : You can use any flour either Maida or Wheat Flour or Both.
Method For Stuffing:
- Take a mixer jar, add grated dry coconut, sugar and cardamom.
- Make a fine powder.
- Here Stuffing is ready keep aside.
- Once the dough has finished resting, lightly flour a work surface, and roll out the dough like Chapati as shown in the video, then take any rounded shape lid or cutter and make all the puri. You can aslo take small size dough and roll it in a puri shape. But this methhod is very simple and time consuming.
- Now take prepared Coconut filling and stuff the filling into it, give the desired shape (as shown in the video) to the Modak and keep aside.
- In the same way make all the Modak.
- Now heat up ghee/oil in kadai and leave the Modak one by one. Keep the heat on low flame.
- Finally, our Maharashtrian Fried Modak are ready...😋
How to Serve ?
- Serve the Modak to Ganesha and celebrate the Ganesh Chaturthi.😊
- Fried Modak are very simple to make and delicious in taste...😋👌
