I remember that I and My Husband used to eat the RASSA VADA while returning home from college. When I came to Pune then I missed it so much. So, one day I told my Husband that we used to eat RASSA VADA!!...then we decided to try this recipe at home and you won't believe it was even more delicious than hotels...Thought of sharing with you guys....below there is our recipe...do try and share your experience. History Of Rassa Vada...?
- Maharashtrian Cuisine is particularly known for it's spicy recipes... Their recipes are very spicy then all other cuisine. If this cuisine have spicy tambda rassa then they have pandra rassa to balance the spice. Maharashtrian Cuisine have some wonderful recipes which are really amazing...
- Rassa Vada/Kat vada is a very popular street food snack recipe in which deep-fried potatoes are served with spicy gravy. Kat is known as "spicy gravy" and vada is an "Indianli snack"...
- Rassa Vada is same as Misal Pav. The Rassa is same, you can also use any sprouts for making the Rassa...Really Maharashtrian Cuisine are ला जवाब...!!
Ingredients For Rassa:
- 1 Cup Soaked Moth Beans
- 2 Chopped Onions
- 2 Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 inch Ginger
- 5-6 Garlic cloves
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Goda Masala/Garam Masala
- Fresh Coriander Leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water
- Oil
Procedure Video...
Process To Make Rassa In Cooker:
- Heat up oil in a Cooker, add the Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds allow them to splutter.
- Add Chopped Onions and Tomatoes. Saute it well and cook for 2 mins.
- Add all the spices Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder and Garam Masala/Goda Masala and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add Soaked Moth Beans, water and Salt to taste. Give a stir, add Coriander Leaves.
- Close the lid and take 2 whistle and turn off the flame.
- Here our Spicy Hot RASSA is ready😋, Keep aside.
Ingredients For Aloo Chutney:
- 3-4 Boiled Potatoes, Mashed
- 6-8 Garlic Cloves
- 1 inch Ginger
- 4-5 Green Chillies
- 1 tbsp Mustard Seeds
- 1 tbsp Cumin Seeds
- ¼ tbsp Asafoetida
- ½ tbsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Corainder Powder
- Salt To Taste
- Oil
Process For Aloo Sabji:
- Heat up oil in a kadai, add Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds, Asafoetida, Crushed Garlic Ginger Green Chilli, Chopped Ginger, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder.Saute for 2 mins.
- Now add Boiled Potatoes and mix well.
- Add Salt, Coriander Leaves and mix it well.Cook For 3 mins and keep it aside to cool.
Ingredients For Batter :
- 1 Cup Gram Flour
- 1 tbsp Ajwain (Optional)
- ½ Tsp Turmeric Powder
- ¼ Tsp Red Chilli Powder
- Fresh Coriander Leaves
- Salt To Taste
- Oil
Process For Batter:
- NOTE : Batter should be thin, not much thick in consistency.
Process To Make Vada :
- Now take a prepared Aloo Sabji/Chutney, make a medium size ball of Potato mixture and deep into the besan batter and fry them till golden brown.
- In same way fry all the Vadas. Here our all Vadas are ready.
How to Serve ?
- Serve Hot, take Vada in a plate add prepared RASSA to it topped with Farsan, Chopped Onions, Chopped Fresh Coriander Leaves and Lemon on side.😋
- RASSA VADA recipe is very very simple to make, no rocket science…Specially, those who have never tried this amazing dish try it today only and enjoy RASSA VADA at home…😊
