History Of Misal Pav...?
- Misal ( मिसळ ), is a very popular spicy dish in the Western Indian state of Maharashtra. The dish is mostly eaten for breakfast or as a midday snack or sometimes as a one-dish meal, often as part of misal pav. It remains a favourite snack since it is easy to make with affordable ingredients and has a good nutritional value. The taste of misal ranges from mildly to extremely spicy. Misal is also a popular KING of street food. The dish is always served hot with farsan, chopped onions and lemon...
- The dish originates from the boundary of Khandesh and Western Maharashtra. Present day Nasik and Ahmednagar districts of Maharashtra.It is also said that “Originating in the 1960s, it was invented by a certain Keshavji Gabha Chudasama, resident of Mandvi , Kutchh.” so, this the history of our KING OF STREET FOOD😊.
INGREDIENTS :
- 1 Cup Sprouted Moth Beans
- 2 Chopped Onions
- 1/2 Cup Dry Coconut
- 1 Chopped Tomatoes
- 1 inch Ginger
- 5-6 Garlic cloves
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
- ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Red Chilli Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Goda Masala/Garam Masala
- Fresh Coriander Leaves
- Salt to taste
- Water 250 ml
- Oil 5 tbsp
Procedure Video...
PROCESS :
- Fristly, Heat up oil in kadai, add Chopped Onions and saute for a minute.
- Add Sprouted Moth Beans and Salt. Saute it well and add Water.
- Keep the lid and cook for 10 min. Here Sprouted Moth Beans are ready keep aside.
- Now Heat the 1 tbsp oil and add sliced Onions, Ginger, Garlic Cloves, Coconut and cook until light brown.
- Add the sliced Tomatoes and cook until they are mushy. Cool the mixture completely.
- Add all the roasted ingredients in grinder jar and grind the Masala in a fine paste. Here Masala is ready, keep aside.
- Now Heat 4 tbsp oil in a deep Kadai, add the Mustard Seeds, Cumin Seeds allow them to splutter, and the freshly prepared onion tomato paste, cook until the oil is released.
- Add the Red Chilli Powder, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder and Garam Masala/Goda masala and cook for 3-4 minutes.
- Add the cooked Moth Beans, 750 ml water and Salt to taste. Bring the curry to a boil and cook for 10-15 minutes and let the oil rise to the surface. Lastly, Add Fresh Corainder Leaves and turn off the flame.
- Here our Spicy Hot MISAL CURRY is ready to serve.😋
- NOTE : You can also use pressure cooker to cooked Sprouted Moth Beans. Also any Spices of your choice.
How to Serve ?
- Serve Hot, take a plate add MISAL CURRY to it topped with Farsan and being accompanied with Pav, Chopped Onions, Chopped Fresh Coriander Leaves and Lemon on side.😋
