Hey Guys, It's Lockdown 5.0: Day 230, Hello Friends, Today I am here with a very famous Breakfast of Maharashtrian that is पोळ्यांचा काला...This recipe is prepared in everyone's house for breakfast or evening snacks. In childhood I used to eat this daily, Today also I eat whenever chapatis are left. Nowadays this famous recipe is hidden somewhere means I think that many people don't prefer this breakfast and having outside oily and heavy breakfast. I am not saying that you don't have it, but don't forget this healthy and tasty breakfast dish. At least whenever there are leftover chapatis that time make this healthy dish and have it...You will really like it😊. The recipe is very easy and with very few ingredients it is done. History Of Chapati Churma/Kala...?
- Polyancha Kala is Maharashtrian Breakfast Dish which is made from leftover Chapatis/Roti’s. One can make the roti’s overnight and then season them in the morning before embarking on any trip.
- There are many names of this dish like in Jalgaon called it ‘Manohara’. Aha , indeed a soothing name for a breakfast dish. It is referred by varied names in some regions of Maharashtra. It is called ‘Policha Churma’, near Ratnagiri ‘Shidya Polyancha Kuskura’. I gather that ‘shidya’ means leftover in Marathi. As this dish is made from leftover roti’s (or chapati) known as ‘Poli’ in Marathi.
- Some of the other names for this dish are Chapati Chachura, Chapati Upma, Kuskara, Chapati Churma, Polyancha Chura, Polyancha Kala or Chapati Chivda.
INGREDIENTS :
- 5-7 Leftover Chapati
- Raw Peanuts
- 1 Chopped Onion
- 4-5 Chopped Garlics
- 3 - 4 Chopped Green Chillies
- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
- 1 tsp Mustard seeds
- 1/4 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 1 tbsp Garam Masala
- 1/8 tsp Asafoetida
- Salt to taste
- Sugar (Optional)
- Oil
Procedure Video...
METHOD :
- Fristly, take leftover chapatis, make small pieces or chura of Chapati by using hands. You can even grind it in a mixer to tiny bits. But originally it is made by hands only.
- Now heat up oil in a kadai/pan, add Raw Peanuts. saute it well for 1 min.
- Add Mustard, Cumin Seeds and Asafoetida. saute well for a min.
- Add Chopped Green Chillies and Chpopped Onions. Saute for a min.
- Add Chopped Garlic and Ginger. Saute it well.
- Add all spices Red Chili Powder, Turmeric Powder, Coriander Powder and Garam Masala. Mix all the spices properly.
- Now add prepared Poli Chura and mix well. Add Salt and mix well.
- Close the lid and allow it to cook for 2 minutes. Garnish with finely chopped coriander.
- Here our Polyancha Kala is ready to serve.😋
- NOTE : You can also use any veggies in this Chura. You can make this Chura/Kala more intresting by adding any spices of your choice.
How to Serve ?
- Serve Hot with pickle or eat as it is.
- The Recipe of Polyancha Kala is famous breakfast of Maharashtrian. Because it is very delicious and simple to make.
