History of PAV BHAJI...?
- In 1850's, Mil Workers in Mumbai made this Fast Lunch Dish...Later this dish got served in the Restaurants across whole Maharashtra...
- In India, Pav Bhaji is Considered as Fast Food....Curry in the Pav Bhaji is very thick and made from vegies...And Obiviosly the curry is serverd with Pav that is bread in India.
- There are some varities of PAV BHAJI like...Cheese pav bhaji, with cheese on top of the bhaji,Fried pav bhaji, with the pav tossed in the bhaji,Kolhapuri pav bhaji, using a spice mix common in Kolhapur,White pav bhaji, with no garam masala and no chilli powder...etc.
Ingredients
To Boil Vegetables :
- 200 gms Cauliflower florets
- Salt to taste
- 3 Medium Potatoes, boiled
For Special Pav Bhaji Masala Paste :
- 2 Medium Onions, finely chopped
- 2Large Tomatoes, finely chopped
- Garlic Cloves
- 1 inch Ginger
- Coriander Leaves
For Bhaji :
- 3 tbsp Oil
- 3-4 Curry Leaves (Optional)
- 1 tbsp Ginger Garlic paste
- 1 tbsp Red Chili powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1 tbsp Coriander Powder
- 3 tbsp Pav Bhaji Masala
- Prepared Pav Bhaji Masala Paste
- Salt to taste
- Fresh Coriander, chopped
For Pav :
- 2 tbsp Oil / Butter
- 6-8 Pavs
For Serving :
- 1 Large Onion, finely chopped
- 1 Lemon, cut into quarters
- 1 tbsp Butter
Procedure Video...
Procedure
- On a large Pan / kadhai heat oil on medium flame.
- Add Special Prepared Pav Bhaji Masala Paste and saute for a minute.
- Add ginger garlic paste,Curry Leaves and saute it.
- Add Spices Red Chilli Powder , Turmeric Powder , Coriander Powder Pav Masala and saute for 2-3 mins.
- Add Boiled Cauliflower , Mashed Potatoes and mix well.
- Add water little by little for that perfect consistency.
- Add salt and mix well.
- Add some more water and cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Lastly add chopped fresh coriander leaves.
- Here our PAV BHAJI is ready.
- Tip 1:You can cook potatoes along with the other vegetables to instead of cooking separately.
- Tip 2:You can also use any vegetables.
- Tip 3:You Can use Butter instead of oil.
How to Serve ?
- Serve PAV BHAJI with Pavs, Chopped Onion and Lemon. 🍛🍽🍲
- Garnish with fresh coriander , Chopped Onions
