Evrey one in Maharashtra celebrate this unique Festival and Make Kheer Kanule at home. If you dont know about kheer kanule then Man you dont have right to say yourself foodie. But dont worry this is very simple dish and very delicious😋. Why we celebrate Nag Pachami ?
- Their are many stories about nag pachmi one of them is story of 7 daughter in laws. Once upon a time,their was a 7 daughter in laws was present in one house whose smallest one was clever and has good soul.Once while working on farm she found a snake in pain, she saves that snake and feed it with milk, for her good deeds snake make her as his sister.Because that day was of pachami so it is celebrated as Naag Pachmi
- In Maharashtra, on this day all womens make kheer kanules and offer it to live snakes to eat. But becouse snakes are not easy to find so womens worships termite hill (वरूला ) where snake leaves.
- Naga Panchami is a day of traditional worship of Nagas or snakes observed by Hindus throughout India, Nepal, and other countries where Hindu adherents live.
Ingredients for Kanule
- 1 Cup whole Wheat Flour (गेहू का आटा )
- Jaggery (गूढ़ )
- 1/2 Cup Water ( पानी )
- Pinch of Salt (नमक)
- 1 tbsp Oil/Ghee (तेल/घी )
Ingredients for Kheer
- 1/2 ltr Milk (दूध )
- 1 handful of Rice (चावल )
- 5tbsp Sugar (शक्कर )
- Raisins (मनुके )
- Soaked Almonds (बादाम )
- crushed Cardamom (काजू )

Procedure
Kanule
- For soft Dough , take Wheat Flour,Pinch of Salt,Oil and Jaggery. Apply oil to dough and give rest for 15 minutes.
- Take a samll size ball, make a thin Chapati using rolling pin, take few drops of oil and apply on Chapati and fold it in 'D' shape, again apply some oil and fold Chapati.It should be look like 'triangle' shape.
- Do the same process for remaining dough. meanwhile take 1 cup of water in a steamer, cover and let it boil.
- Once you finished making Kanule, place it into steamer, apply some oil on surface. You can place one Kanule on another. Steam for 25 - 30 minutes on medium flame.
- Serve it with Whole wheat kheer or Rice Kheer
Kheer
- Kheer is one of the traditional Indian dessert recipe. So, Let’s see how to make delectable and mouth-watering Rice Kheer is a quick and easy way.
- In a pan/Kadai Add Milk and bring it to boil.
- Now add a handful soaked Rice and keep stirring for 10 mins.
- Add sugar to the kheer and keep stirring continuously till Rice get Cooked.
- when it becomes thick add more milk to it.
- Keep stirring the Kheer and add Raisins, Soaked Almonds, Cashew Nuts,Charoli,Crushed Cardamom.
- Rice Kheer is ready to served!
